Iowa Pastors Call for Gubernatorial Candidates to Pledge Equal Justice for the Pre-Born
With Governor Kim Reynolds announcing that she will not seek re-election in 2026, a new chapter of leadership opens in Iowa. As pastors across this state, we are resolved that the next Governor must not merely inherit an office—but rise to a standard.
The standard is justice—defined by God’s Law.
We believe that from the moment of conception, the pre-born are fully human, made in the image of God, and entitled to the same legal protections as every other Iowan. Abortion is not healthcare—it is the intentional killing of innocent human life. For far too long, politicians have cloaked compromise in the language of prudence. We will no longer perpetuate this era of unrighteous decrees, delay, and double-speak.
Therefore, we declare the following:
We will only consider supporting a candidate for Governor who will publicly commit to making the establishment of equal justice for the pre-born a priority—and who will publicly commit to signing a bill of equal justice for the pre-born if given the opportunity.
We resolve to be a conscience to the people of Iowa by unapologetically demanding that His laws be obeyed—for righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.
